Everything You Need to Know About the Jet2 Pilot Assessment
Jet2, as the third largest airline in the UK, is a major provider of jobs for UK-based pilots and pilot apprentices. The positions at Jet2 are highly coveted, and the difficulty of their assessments directly reflect that fact. If you face a Jet2 verbal, numerical, or personality assessment, preparation and practice are the keys to success.
Jet2 Numerical Assessment
The main group of Jet2 assessments includes a numerical reasoning evaluation. This test will include 20 questions and must be completed in 20 minutes. That means that each question has approximately 60-seconds to be answered.
The information on which you will be tested is present in a series of tables and graphs. From the information on these visual items, you will be asked multiple-choice questions. The problems will require basic arithmetic, knowledge of ratios and percentages, and a bit of advanced algebra to complete.
Jet2 Verbal Assessment
Another component of the Jet2 series of assessments involves testing your verbal reasoning skills. This skill is vital to effectively communicating and understanding the information in written form. The test is 18 minutes long and contains 24 questions.
The questions are spread among 6 texts that contain the information necessary to answer each one. Though there are varying texts for the questions, each question is answered by one of three options: “True,” “False,” or “Cannot Say.”
Jet2 Personality Assessment
Though the personality portion of the Jet2 assessment focuses on your core behavior instead of your knowledge, it is still quite daunting. Jet2 utilizes the Occupational Personality Inventory (OPI), which is highly regarded when it comes to pre-employment evaluations.
The assessment contains 250 questions that are answered through the use of a sliding scale rating system. The scale ranges from one to five and is intended to help you show how well you relate, agree, or approve of a series of hypothetical statements. The personality assessment does not have a time limit, but it is usually completed in ~40 minutes.
The 5 Steps to Jet2 Recruitment
Getting a job as a pilot or pilot apprentice typically involves five key steps:

Pre-Employment Assessments
The first step to hiring is bypassing the pre-employment tests we discussed earlier in this article. Each of the three exams, verbal reasoning, mathematical reasoning, and the OPI, are equally important to the progression of the application process.

Telephone Interview
Once you pass your assessments, you will need to complete a phone interview. This is a no-pressure call where your personal details and resume information will be confirmed. You may be asked a few questions about your opinions on the company or the position, so be prepared by researching Jet2 and the position requirements.
Group Exercise
After your pre-employment assessment and telephone screening, you must show up for in-person assessment day. The first portion of this day includes a group exercise where you and 7-9 other people will be given a selection of topics to discuss. This exercise won’t require any technical knowledge of the position. Instead, it allows you to show how well you work in a group to resolve complex issues.
Face-to-Face Interview
After your group exercise, you will have a face-to-face interview. This interview will be more like a traditional interview than the phone screening, so be prepared to answer questions like:

- How will you prove to be an asset for Jet2?
- What do you like most about Jet2?
Job Simulator
If the interview is a success, the last step before being hired is the Jet2 Simulator Assessment. This is completed in the Training Center and is the first test you will take that tests your actual skills and potential to perform as a pilot.
